Following a Board Meeting this afternoon the following statement has been released by the Club.
Following the resignation of Stephen Vaughan the remaining directors have today put in a cash injection of ?150,000 which will take care of the Club?s short-term financial requirements.
They are also putting into place strategies to ensure the Club?s long-term future. These include seeking to appoint additional directors to the Board and investigating additional funding opportunities; the Club has no bank borrowing or Crown Creditor obligations.
The Club is disappointed with the scurrilous rumours, in which there is no foundation, that have appeared in the media and are currently circulating within the game.
[
b]It is also disappointed that individual players have been approached by other Clubs and intends to investigate these illegal approaches and submit its findings to the Rugby Football League[/b].
Everybody at the Club is determined to ensure that Widnes Vikings continues its excellent start to the season, beginning with Sunday?s Northern Rail Cup Tie with Batley Bulldogs.

Makes interesting reading especially the 5th paragraph which I have highlighted. Apparently there considering legal action against clubs who they beleive have tried to poach their players.
Now cast your minds back to 2005. How long did SM have on his contract when he was POACHED by Widnes.
