He made his debut at the latter end of the 1956/57 season on March 16th 1957 away to Oldham in a 25 points to 5 defeat. The team that day was;
JJ McKeown, Ron Mullinder, Ron Morgan, John Tembey, Louis Shepherd, Syd Lowden, Jackie Reid,
Bill McAlone, Jack McKinnell, George Killen, Steve McCourt, Tom Short and Tom Stamper.
His final game was away to Salford on 20th September early in the 1968/69 season, again loosing by 18 points to 7. The team that day was;
Peter Donnelly, Barry Buchanan, John Shimmings, Louis Shepherd, Billy Ennis, John Bailey, Ron Barnes, Alf Mumberson, Tom Hill, Keith Irving, Eddie Bowman, Mick McFarlane and Tom Pullin.
