Bradford hooker Terry Newton has been handed a three-match ban and a ?300 fine by the Rugby Football League after he being found guilty of a high tackle.
The Bulls said they now intend to appeal against the decision.

Newton tackled Leeds prop Jamie Thackray during Leeds' win on Sunday and the incident was placed on report by referee Steve Ganson.

Newton will miss Sunday's Challenge Cup match at Wakefield and Super League ties with Huddersfield and Harlequins.

It is the second time Newton has been disciplined by the RFL this year as he was found guilty of striking St Helens' Jon Wilkin in March and given a two-match suspension.

He also sat out the first two months of last season after being handed a 10-match ban for illegal tackles on Saints pair Sean Long and Lee Gilmour in September 2005.

looks like YET AGAIN, the disciplinary committee has failed to take terry newtons previous record into account!!

why dont they set up a school for persisitent high tacklers to teach them a new technique of tackling enabling them to tackle correctly? keith mason and sean o'loughlin could go to it too.

surely this would benefit the players, the club, the fans and the committee?

everyone wants to see the best players playing all the time , something needs to be done

Just cause you don't understand what's going on don't mean it don't make no sense
And just cause you don't like it, don't mean it ain't no good
