Wonder what the chances are of  Northern Trains putting on a seaside special train from Whitehaven to Blackpool for the final?
If it's a girl they're naming her Sigourney after an actress, if it's a boy the 're naming him Rodney after Dave

I emailed Northern Rail and got this reply

To: Customer Relations
Subject: Special trains
Sir/Madam

   Is there any plan to run a special return service from Whitehaven to Blackpool on July 15th for the National rail cup final



We are not aware of anything so far.
 
If you can check with us again next week,we will give you an update.

Hope this idea becomes a reality as I have looked into going on a normal train and the return journey takes over 12 hours due to there being no connection at Barrow until Monday morning. Wouldn't mind a pint or three and don't know what the crack is with buses after the last fiasco.
