The difference between town and haven of late is Forster get players who want to play for.whitehaven and at town this season prime example getting random ex sl players to.come for a payday when we have seen how that turns out for them most end up leaving or throwing toys out the pram so I'm keen to see how town go this year

it seems that common sense leaves us when town comes up. We're the ones who are going non local. Our last few young signings are from away and on 1 year contracts. 4 eva - dont let your hatred of town cloud reality. Theyve signed well. We seem to be struggling

Be careful mate putting common sense posts on here that critique the club, you'll be slaughtered.

Reality is that callum apart, out recruitment has been pitiful.

Think its harsh to say our signings have been pitiful, at least wait until you have seen them play in a Haven shirt before condemning. Town (seem) a far better team than last year but other than Leatherbarrow the remainder shouldn't scare anyone, Towns main strength could be their coach, but as a % it seems that top players struggle to become top coaches in many UK team sports so Pryce being their messiah its not a given.

It will be good though to have a competitive Town & Haven.

I think its time we start doing what we did last year in january and start signing some good local lads who have potential and are willing to stick it out. We seemed to have run out of resources when it comes to local amateur rugby league as them lads seem to want to be right in the team or they leave. Is there no local hard hitting and hard working lads on the scene in the amateur rugby union, town seem to have got a good player in Gordom Maudling.

Time and time again both clubs continues to repeat the same mistakes, signing unproven inexperienced ex super league kids will undoubtedly end in tears.

That's why I'm saying sign up some local talent that has been around the county for a bit. An example is the prop from Kells Lowrey great player work horse and could be really effective at this level.

There is little real depth of talent in the rugby union ranks these days, which could be as an alternative source of players. As an example, Aspatria and Wigton both play in the North Lancs/Cumbria League these days, which is a long way below the level that both used to play at (National League Three and North One respectively).
Living across in the east of the county the local rugby union clubs largely have the same problem of retaining players beyond school level. The player pathways at school/junior club level are also well defined, which means that there are few hidden gems that have not already been picked up by Newcastle Falcons and Sale Sharks.
