DR has gone on record as saying he dosent have any plans to sign anymore players before the start of next year.  This I apprecaite may be down to budget constraints but what do people think about our chances if we go with the same squad as last year  (albeit at this stage without Leafa who it has to be said is only possibility of returning)

Would we be competitive with Castlford and Widnes?

Widnes have signed some decent backs in Toa Koa Love , Kirk , Grix and Kain.  To add to Moran Dodd Nanyn & Blanchetc.  On paper they look quite a bit better off than last year IMO.

Castlford are still unknown at this stage but I suspect that they will retain 5 -6 from this year and put a competitive team together.

Leigh look like they will struggle - half their team have gone and no coach at this stage we can discount them.

As alway its down to money and i suspect revenue is down quite a bit on last years but a couple of good signings would be a boast to take us to the next level in 2007.  we did well but lacked a little bit in the big games.

Wilkes and Nanynn  would do but it seems no signings to be made.

2  maybe  3  signings  to  give  us  a  strong  chance  assuming  leafe  comes  back.

If  not  then  its  going  to  be  very  tight  again  and  an  injury  crisis  might  blow  our  chances.

DR's living in cuckoo land if he thinks that the current squad is strong enough to top NL1 next season.  We'll still be very strong at home but will struggle when we come up against the stronger teams on their own grounds.  I'm not talking about extensive change, but one or two players in key positions to improve the quality of our team.  A top drawer half back and another strong running prop would do me fine.

we will always struggle against widnes ,cas away as they wilkl struggle at our place....its the rochdales and york(this season) away we need to win to be top 2 ...thats what cost us this year...i think if we get leafa back then we should go after nanyn(widnes have just signed 2 new centers) and wilkes.. maybe a prop but thats it 2 or 3 new signings is all we need to be top 2

win all your home games and 6/7 of your away games and you will finish 1st or 2nd

we have to strengthen the squad with 3/4 players if we want home advantage in next seasons play offs, we do have a  squad at the moment on the day capable of beating any team in the league,,,but we will suffer with injuries(hopefully not as many as last year) and to keep the momentum and pressure on widnes/castleford we will need to get these players on board rapid

Apparently  we  have  1st  choice  of  Wilkes  and  I  for  one  would  love  to  see  him  back  at  the  club.  Nanyn  would  be  another  as  would  Tandy.

If  we  could  capture  the  signatures  of  these  3  plus  maybe  1  more  quality  signing  then  our  chances  next  season  would  increase  dramatically.

If  however  DR  keeps  the  same  squad  then  I  still  think  we'll  be  up  there  but  its  going  to  be  very  tight  between  us,  Widnes  and  Cas

So is DR & the BOD pulling the wool about no new signings or are we going with what weve got?

dana wilson from leigh would be a great captuer, a prop in the mould of fats, not on the quota and could replace fats when he hangs up his boots
