Whitehaven RL are delighted to announce the signing of Dave Thompson on a two year deal which takes him to the end of the 2020 season fighting off competition from a number of clubs in higher divisions including one Super League club.

Dave made his debut for the club in the away league fixture versus South Wales Scorpions in 2017.

Speaking about extending his stay at the Recreation Ground “I’m over the moon that I’ve signed back at Whitehaven. I knew from when the season ended this is where I wanted to be and where I wanted to stay and I had a couple of teams interested in signing me but my heart was always set on Whitehaven and I am excited for the new season to start and hopefully we as a club can get Whitehaven back as a team to where it belongs and that is the championship. I would like to personally thank Whitehaven and the people who made this signing possible and also the fans who have been a honour to play in front of and made my stay here a whole lot better."

Dave can cover a number of positions having played wing, centre and second row in his time in the Chocolate, Blue and Gold and become a firm fans favourite in his two seasons at the Recreation Ground.

Great bit of business. But wouldnt break the bank to re sign Abram, good player but would like to see Jordan at fullback not wasted on the wing.

Abram is quality at 9 as we look like not having Tilley we won’t have a 9 plus he kicks goals aswell so we really need him Jordan to full back and jake Bradley on the other wing to Thompson

Dave's best position is 2nd row by a mile. I'd play him there personally

Jake Bradley wing! Not a chance he’s just represented England at prop at U19s if he’s good enough he’s old enough.

Burns is a much better winger than a FB. Similar to Elliot Miller.

I would think would make a handy centre, if we get the fullback iv heard then Jordan’s ability is his greatest asset to move inside

Jordan is wasted on the wing he needs to be involved in the game morning, he runs hard for his weight and makes yards.
