Hope someone can help me out with this

My local pub has a barman who tells me his uncle was a former haven player but he has little information about his career.

His last name was Watson, he also played for Town and was usually a centre/winger.

Anyone know anything?

Ralph Watson was the club secretary for many years, but never a player.

Dave definitely played for Town. Played most of his time at halfback for Haven, but did play a few games at centre and a couple of games at fullback.

There was a winger/centre called Darrell Watson who played for Town from 1945 to 1947, though not sure if he played for Haven. He was from Maryport originally and played for Netherhall RU before the war.

Thanks all, and accept my apologies.

The barman tells me that he was slightly in error and the player was a Mark Watson who had trials with Haven but spent most of his career at Barrow in the late 60's. His comment was Barrow & Whitehaven are close to each other" . It was at this point he revealed himself as a Rugby Onion fan....

I may need to find myself another pub!
