Tight first half but went up a couple gears second half and tired em out and ended up a very professional win with some outstanding defence well done the boys very happy with that we have something special in this team and with quality players still to come in or missing

well done all 1st half was a bit dire but did well to hold out a so called good side? showed what we can do when a team just wants to take heads off etc. we should fear no one in this league and if we stay clear of injuries we just could get into championship next year :

Whitehaven News Match Report......

https://www.whitehavennews.co.uk/sport/17507550.whitehaven-record-superb-win-over-doncaster/?fbclid=IwAR1AXdfTzZcGGhI0wQOAK2UlJ7pWivQ1C__1PoEJvIh7Qoz5eYXvboTj1O0

An impressive second-half performance underlined Whitehaven’s emerging potential for the League One season ahead as they beat in-form Doncaster.

Trailing 4-0 after a penalty-strewn first-half, Haven dominated on the change-over and four tries, all converted, saw them comfortably through to victory at 26-8.

The first half was not the most entertaining game of rugby league for either set of fans with just one try separating the two sides.

The penalties racked up and Haven had Dave Thompson to thank as he intercepted when the Dons looked set to score.

But they did get the breakthrough on 24 minutes when Matty Beharrell broke the line and put the ball on a plate for Matty Chrimes to go over but Beharrell dragged the conversion attempt wide.

Haven thought they had equalised when Sam Forrester went over but the referee pulled it back saying the Doncaster man had been taken out.

Forrester was then taken off the field after a high shot which earned the home side a penalty but in the end the half time score stayed at 4-0 to the visitors.

The second half was more eventful and it was Whitehaven who took the lead when Jake Moore broke the line and found Jason Mossop in support who raced over the line with Moore converting.

And moments later they were 12-4 ahead as the ball bounced from a last minute kick and into the arms of Moore who scored and converted his own.

Doncaster struck back when Beharrell slipped the ball to Jason Tali to score but again the resulting kick was wayward.

But Haven came back again and Jessie Joe Parker slipped out of the tackle to go over, with Moore again on target with the extras for 18-8.

Then came the crucial try as Dion Aiye was the man to go over the line, with Connor Holliday converting and Haven were in the clear at 24-8.

In the last seconds of the game Haven were handed a penalty and Holliday again duly obliged as the hooter sounded to hand the home side a crucial win at 26-8.

Stayed in the arm wrestle and then bossed the game second half. Will do the team no end of good....learning how to win as a team. Watched Shacks patrolling the touch line for last 10 -12 mins like the proud captain he must be...good to see. He had a hoss of a game and his propping partner Phylips  likewise

Tough game today Doncaster really physical side but lads held in till half time so credit due there, thought ref wasn’t to bad considering, second half bossed the game thought Tom Wilikinson was outstanding and maybe we should just use Dion as a dynamic prop and leave Callum and Sam in the halves, today showed we are well in this league if we can cut errors and pens out.

So quite a few, ( Maybe as many as go  to our away games ), one even came into Sponsors Lounge to give a view of the game. Said the better team won, and Ref gave a few strange decisions to both teams.

Thought we struggled first half. Lacked composure near their line . Need to improve our kicks. Tried a few grabbers but fell well short of the try line.

2nd half was much better. Totally dominated and if we can play like that for the rest of the season we’ll be hard to beat.

Finally wondered were Charlo was going start of the 2nd. Did he watch the game from the Kells end ??
