With the quality of  the signings made by Widnes and Castleford over the past few day should we be starting to get worried about our chances for next season. The signings which they've made are all of undoubted SL class where as we have announced nothing. If Rotherham thinks the youngsters on our books will improve our team and enable us to compete with our rivals in NL1 next year i think he is being very naive.

Since he took over at the Recreation Ground he has signed 1 player and that was only for half the season. With his supposed contacts you would assume he would be able to bring in a higher standard of player than we currently have at the club. The re-signing of Nanyn will have no effect when faced with the signings the aforementioned have made.

Have a look........

Castleford

Guttenbiel (NZ international with NRL experience)
Stuart Donlan (20 games for Huddersfield in SL last year scoring 7 trys)
James King (played with Leigh in their SL season and was devestating when at Barrow)
Chris Charles (SL with Salford, good kicker)
Paul White (SL experience with Wildcats)

Possible.....

Oli Wilkes !
Mark Lennon ( NRL first grade player with Parramatta i think)

Plus all the players they've kept from last year ( Lupton ect)

Widnes

Scott Grix (Leighs standout player last year)
Toa Kohe Love (Loads of SL experience and class)
Andy Kain (Crucified us with the help of Davis in 2005)
Dean Gaskell (Another Leigh player)
Lee Doran (Rochdale star player)

Thats along with the current players such as Beswick, James, Tandy and Moran.

ive viewed my concern a few times ,,,to improve on last season we need 3/4 new signings,we have got a good squad now ,but,, to "compete" and win the likes of cas and widnes etc and do it week in week out ,and taking into account injuries we must make some signings asap

Why do other clubs always seem to be doing things any signing players at the end of each season but we don't do nothing? Do you think it could have alot to do with our location?

Fair enough Trindall and Smith were omitted from the list. I wouldnt class McAvoy as a consistent first teamer as yet. What i meant was players of proven class who Rotherham has attracted to the club. Duffy, Maden and Jackson were all more or less done deals when he came to the club so i wouldnt give him any credit for that.

He also got shot of Joel Penny and brought in a Prop (Trindall). Fair enough hes a good player but he wouldnt have had the same impact upon the teams progress had Penny stayed another season.

Think havens main problem isn't just lack of players, I think until we go full time we'll always be one of those teams with an outside shot, relying on a bit of good fortune and an exceptional performance, we do have some good youngsters coming through but we also have one or two old campaigners who sooner or later are gonna start to look a little of pace, thats not a cheap shot at some haven greats its just a fact of life.
