Whitehaven RL can announce the resigning of Scotland International second rower Brett Phillips on a one year deal for our 2020 Betfred Championship campaign.

Phillips returned to rugby league after a year out of the game for the 2019 season and made 17 appearances last season scoring 4 tries to help the squad to the Betfred League 1 title and was picked in the Scotland RL train-on squad for the 2021 World Cup qualifiers.

Phillips said “I’m excited for another year. I enjoyed last season and hopefully we can kick in again next year and enjoy our rugby. I’m looking forward to getting back into the routine and playing rugby again.”

Head coach Gary Charlton who brought Phillips back to the sport last season said “ Brett is a great signing for us.  He’s a good player that has experience playing in the Championship and at the highest level with Scotland. Really pleased to see him sign for another season with us.”

Brett is the latest member to confirm his commitment to the club for the 2020 campaign with pre-season training beginning in only two days time.
