The squad have set up a challenge amongst themselves for each day next week. They intend to do the following:

Monday: 5K Road Run
Tuesday: 10K Bike Ride
Wednesday: 200 Burpees
Thursday: 300 Push Ups
Friday: Eat 5 Boiled Eggs without a drink!!

We will post videos each day on the VP Facebook page for you.

They are looking for YOUR support.

We have set up a Just Giving Page to raise £1000 for four local good causes. They are SCRUB HUB, a group of volunteers trying to raise £3000 for fabric to make almost 300 gowns for NHS and Care staff in the area. Hungry Caterpillar and Number 11/The Sandwich Man who are all making meals for Key Workers in the area and KEBSI 13 a fund for former RL player and coach, Kevin Gartland and his ongoing battle with Motor Neurone Disease.

There is a Just Giving page to donate at:

Today is Day 1 of the Players Challenge and the lads are busy doing their 5K runs today. They are doin* this challenge to raise funds for four, great, local causes. SCRUB HUB who are a bunch of volunteers making gowns and other PPE to donate to our local front line NHS staff as well as Carers. HUNGRY CATERPILLAR who are making nutritious, healthy meals for key workers at all levels. KESBI 13 which is a fund raising money for former RL player and coach Kevin Gartland in his ongoing battle with motor neurone disease and NUMBER11 and the SANDWICH MAN. These two businesses have combined to help serve meals to workers on the front line from bin men and posties right through to Consultants.

All are doing great work in our Community.

Every pound we raise will be split equally between the four groups. Please, give the lads that little extra support  by donating at our Just Giving page.

Every little bit helps.

We will have a video update each night on the Vice Presidents FB page.

Thanks

Thanks to everyone who has donated to the Players Challenge so far. Delighted to say we passed the £1000 mark on our Just Giving page yesterday. Fantastic effort by everyone. The lads certainly appreciate the support you are giving them.

On to day 3 of the Challenge and today they will be doing 200 burpees each.

If you want to see videos of the lads doing the challenge head over to Whitehaven RL Vice Presidents Facebook page.

To donate please go to:

Thanks to everyone who donated. I’m delighted to say that the players reached their £1500 target on Just Giving thanks to your generosity.

The idea for the challenge came from Newts and the lads said about raising money for something locally rather than putting it into a big pot. Players get a lot of stick at times for being greedy etc so it was good to see them wanting to put something back into the community.

The Just Giving page will remain open till midnight tomorrow if you would like to contribute. There is no pressure on anyone to do so, we all have our different issues to deal with during this sad time.

We hope to be able to announce the final total by Wednesday as we have other monies that have come/are coming in.

Thanks again for your fantastic support.
