Experienced centre Chris Taylor has committed himself to the Whitehaven squad for the next two years. The twenty six year old made his debut for Haven in February 2014. He has gone on to make 136 appearances for the club and scored forty tries.

Taylor said on signing a two year deal, “I’ve always signed one year deals but I feel it is the time to add a bit of stability. I love the club and the fans and they have been great with me on and off the pitch.”

In 2015 Taylor went to Halifax for a short spell, playing ten games for them before to returning to Haven. This year he received a knee injury in the first game of the season at home to Swinton. The good news for Haven fans is that he is ready to go in 2021. Speaking fo the knee injury Taylor said, “I was delayed getting a scan because of Covid but when I did get it the specialist confirmed there was no damage to the knee and I just needed some physio. It means I’ll be ready to play next season and I’m looking forward to getting back to it.”

Head Coach, Gary Charlton, is delighted to have Chris back on board for the next two years. “Chris is an experienced member of the squad and for him to sign a two year deal is a big boost for us. He is a strong player who fits well in the squad and who loves it at Whitehaven. We know we have to strengthen for next season and I’m really pleased he’s signed for two years. I’d like to thank the Vice Presidents for again helping get Chris over the line.”

Quote from Chairman Tommy Todd

"It's great news for the club that once again Chris Taylor has re - signed for us on a new two year deal. We all know Chris' abilities and his passion for the club. Chris adds a dimension of experience to the three quarter line and off the field the man is a proper gentleman. it's great to see players committing to the future and all part of the continuing pattern of Gary Charlton building a strong squad for 20121. Welcome home Chris and family."
