Hammered by a very poor team.  Feel sorry for the BOD and volunteers who have funded a very good first 17 for Charlo to play players who wouldnt get in the local amateur teams.

Same old Haven. Daft errors and indiscipline cost them points. Plenty of oportunity in Widnes half but couldn't turn into points. Zammit needs to go back to defense school cos he's forgotenhow to read a play and line up a tackle.

Plenty of opportunities in the second half to get back in but way too many errors and poor plays. Let's hope they learn from it.

Did ok first half . Big game breaker was bombing a great chance just before half time . They went up field and scored off the back of that . We could have been 12-10 up instead of 16-6 down.  Thtat would have deflated the team massively.

2nd half was full of enforced errors . I don’t think we even completed a set of six. Even Tony Rae singled this out during commentary.  Add to that conceding really soft tries . Crashing over from a couple of yards  out is not good enough in defence .

That said at times we did play some good stuff. Last year it was one man rugby . At least we tried to keep the ball alive and in fairness that wasn’t our best 17 on show today . Cut the mistakes out I think we could do quite well and maybe finish midtable. Last year I couldn’t see us winning a game

Not the result we wanted but a good hit out for players that didn't play last we week. Charlo said he was going to make these changes and I agree with them. Got to make sure players get back run out after not playing for 12 months or more. A lot of mistakes to iron out and plays to work on. Roll on next week when our main objective starts. Over all pretty positive about the season ahead.

To many negative comments on here . We had at least 7 first choice players out today . Take 7 of widnes most experienced players out and see what score it would have been.  And which of the players wouldn't get un the local conference teams . Interesting to know which players they are .

The team we fielded did ok today IMO.....first competitive game for over a year for most and we showed good skills we need to building on as a team, (flowing open attacking play). My summary of the two cup games just played is that we appear to have a really good squad with good potential to deliver a productive season for us and retain Championship status quite easily.Time will tell of course but I believe the squad potential is very good.

Half backs looked good and Bulman impressed again. Few peoples looked rusty, but what you expect after 12 months out.
Personally think we have a good squad that should competitive in the league.
Where is the Morris lad?

A positive first half, with some good attacking intent, with two, possibly three tries not taken.
An error strewn second half, with poor ball retention, plus poor decision making e.g. Thomas' kick to the corner on second tackle and Parker's forward pass to Worthington.
That said, the pivots of Dixon and Williams look good, while Callum Phillips got through an awful lot of work at half back. Another good performance from Bulman too.

Nice to hear the commentator say that Phillip's try was the best one of the game.
