As officially revealed yesterday the club received their IMG Grading which seen the club graded as a C.

The club were disappointed with some aspects of their grading around the aspects of community work and interest. Our community programme involved players in schools, Care homes visiting players from the sixties. We’ve had input on matchdays from all the emergency services including RNLI, blood bikes and St John’s ambulance.

We have a weekly gentleman’s mental health get together plus a weekly autism charity arts and crafts evening. The club is used regularly for family parties, weddings, funeral teas and christenings along with daytime corporate use. All these events have taken off in the last six months since we started the mini rugby summer camps to involve parents and children.

We as a club are unsure on how certain areas of the grading can be judged when the club haven’t been visited to gain a perspective on the number of pillars that we offer. The club will be moving forward working as hard as we can both on the field in challenging as high up the Championship table in the 2024 season as well as striving to improve behind the scenes to improve our grade ahead of definitive grading over the next 12 months.

End of statement

At the end of the day we are never going to get promoted to SL regardless of any IMG grading.

The results should be used to develop a plan to improve and try and get the RFL to support it. The first step for me would be a womens team, then some sort of academy / education set up utilising Lakes College.

Financially we are probably one of the poorest clubs in the game and potentially the least sustainable.

It's fine to be disappointed and want RFL to come up/gather more evidence so we can demonstrate that we comply more however from looking through the criteria, is there not more we can aim for?

Community criteria aside, they look at stadium factors such as LED advertising boards (one example) etc. What is the cost of these for us?

What are the boards aims? How can we all help (apart from turning up)? Is there a strategy we are following? People may not agree with the framework we are working within but it is what we are bound to. Making grade B is something we should definitely be able to work towards and definitely achievable.
You are really a superfan amongst super fans in fact your the no.1 fan in Cumbria. Congratulations.

Thought this was a good interview. Bit light on detail of some of the aims which is understandable but a good start.

Why can’t the RFL be like any other sport . If your good enough your promoted and if not your relegated .  They’ve always been picky who’s in SL and who Isn’t . Absolute disgrace. No wonder they can’t expand the game  :shake:

Totally agree with the super league comments ; it's gone from looking for many years as the saviour of the game to our achillees heel.  As a competition its becoming increasingly stale, only a small band of clubs can win it, whilst it's greatest strength is greed.  Expansion remains an abject failure across the game ; there's less money for all codes of rugby dare I whisper a level playing field with all three leagues receiving the same money and super league giants go part time. I may be talking about the distant future or reality
