Pre Season Friendly....... 14.01.2024

Whitehaven Rugby League can this evening confirm a second pre-season fixture which will take place next weekend.

Jonty Gorley’s side will have their first action of 2024 as they travel to the DCBL Stadium to take on Widnes Vikings in a testimonial match for Jack Owens on Sunday 14th January.

This is Haven’s second pre-season hit out after confirmation of the Ike Southward memorial fixture last month which will take place at The Fibrus Community Stadium vs Workington Town on Sunday 21st January.

29 year old Owens made one appearance for Haven back in 2015 on dual registration from the Vikings in a 18-16 Championship home victory versus London Broncos in March 2015.

We have just the one pre-season friendly, and it's at our DR partners Saints on 20 January.

I would imagine that (as last term) Wellens will play the kids against us.

Our first "proper" game is away to North Wales in the 1895 Cup, but.................
