Give it a break will you lot talking about young lads going into the first team and doing well.
Anyone who knows RL is fully aware that you blood young players with potential in ONE's and TWO's only and in an experienced team ... Otherwise if you overdo it (more than ONE or TWO), then the team gets thumped because there are not sufficient experienced players to hold the game together around the youngsters.
Getting thumped results in young players loosing confidence and finally commitment and interest.
We need a good experienced team that can hold its own and include only ONE or TWO younger players (who have the bottle and potential) at any one time.
Come on lets have a bit of realism about the quality of our current academy team. Two max three will break through next year if we're lucky.
Which post says that we should play loads of young lads?
I must have missed it !!!!!!!
If you have your finger on the pulse and know the club you will realise that there are only a few gaps in our first team squad. For example:
1. GB
2. Calvert
3. R Jackson
4.
GAP5.
GAP6. Finch
7. Duffy
8. Fats
9. Matty
10. Edmondson
11. Fletcher
12. S McAvoy
13. Rudd
14. Sice
15. Hill
16. Joe
17. M Jackson
So by my reckoning we need to use a few academy lads to fill a couple of gaps and to move into the team when there are some injuries. However the season hasn't started yet, so there may be more signings yet, WHO KNOWS?
The lads need to given a chance so that they could become good squad members and start to develop for the future. That is why we need to give some of them some games when the time is right !!!!!
