Just heard that Darren Holt has been named at 6 for the Cumbria vs USA game on Sunday.

Not being picky, but thought Holt was from the North East. Thought you had to be Cumbrian to play for Cumbria! Or is Holt playing under the Fa'asavalu ruling with 3 years residency in Cumbria!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dean Bell played for Cumbria didn`t he ?
Success is like a fart.
It only bothers people when it is not their own!

He certainly did and there was another player who played around that time whose eligitbilty was brought in to question....name that player and where he was born (Cockermouth born and bred father!)

Would guess Keith will guess this one ;)

The old memory isn't as good as it used to be but I'll have a guess at Korky. (Iain MacCorquodale)

If you were born outside one of the 3 traditional RL counties (Lancs, Yorks or Cumberland) you qualified to play for the county of the team you made your first team debut for

Keith Mumby from Bradford was born in the North East but played for Yorkshire, whilst Dean Bell played for Cumbria

You've got me with this one!!!    There have been a few players who have played for Cumbria from outside the county - Bell, Korky, Lynn Hopkins; Ray Wilkins; Brian Lauder, Paul Grimes, but I can't think of one of them cuasing a controversy.   I give in.

at the time of Dean Bell, Ian's cumbrian heritage was also questioned!

When you said about contributing to the forum I thought about yanto but then dismissed it because I wasn't aware he was born outside the county.   Good one.
