And it appears that Mick Nanyn has returned to Widnes from Oldham as well.   Must have had a clause in his contract allowing him to go full-time!!!!

reading on the rfl website boyo who has bought widnes says they will be trading as a new business, so therefore i presume a new club so that being the case shouldnt they have to start life in either NL2 or as was the case with Bramley in NL3?

cant wait to see what ****e the rfl come out with to allow them to start in NL1, and no doubt without a 6 point penalty against them!!

Once they have obtained membership of the RFL then the 6 point penalty will kick in

but if they have to obtain membership again, as a new business/club surely they should have to start at the very bottom?

By rights we all know its the same team. They should be automatically relegated to NL2 and thenlet them fight from there. Thats what the rules state.

The RFL has to be one of the most biased, inconsistent and selfish sports governing bodies around !!!!!!

Looks like they'll be in our league next season, just got this off RLfans

Nov 9 2007 Liverpool Daily Post wrote:
Widnes get go-ahead to stay in National League One

WIDNES Vikings are set to get the green light from the Rugby Football League to compete in Co-operative National League One next season.
New owner Steve O?Connor met with the RFL on Monday to present the club?s bid to gain membership and it?s expected that chiefs at Red Hall, RFL headquarters, will give the Vikings and O?Connor the go-ahead.
O?Connor, who was accompanied to the meeting in Leeds by Vikings chief executive Peter Barrow and Halton Borough Council Leader Cllr Tony McDermott, presented their vision for the Vikings? future and a flavour of the club?s business plan which they hope will enable it to win one of the two Franchise places for Super League in 2009.
Meanwhile returning Widnes boss Steve McCormack has been busy beavering away behind the scenes to shape a new-look Vikings squad for the new season.
As things stand the Vikings don?t have one player registered to play for the club after 18 players of the 2007 squad decided to join other clubs after the Vikings announced its decision to go into voluntary administration following Grand Final defeat at Headingley.
An announcement on McCormack?s new squad could come as early as the weekend.
It?s believed the Widnes boss is hoping to construct a 24-man squad which will be good enough to challenge league favourites Salford City Reds and upwardly mobile Leigh Centurions who have put together a totally new outfit which contains former Vikings? stars Dennis Moran and Toa Kohe-Love.
Former Widnes skipper Shane Millard, who was part of the relegated Vikings squad in 2005, will return to his native Australia where he has secured a coaching role with Crunulla Sharks Reserve Grade.
