No Super League for 3 years. .......... So BOD have put in place a sensible 3 year plan.

Appoint the local coach, who has fresh idea's and a new exciting approach .......and who has had some success previously. (Done).

Then ........... don't go all out for year on year (fast but risky) team fixes by wasting money on dodgy solutions to team positional problems.

Better to try to build a new exciting team, ....starting from the existing pool of proven and committed senior players .... and then slowly introduce  more and more locally based players who are coached in our new style and who are committed and capable of playing fast and open rugby.

At the same time, .......add to this our past ability to draw in our quota of specially selected young  southern hemisphere players who have potential ........and who are willing to come into West Cumbria and settle here, .........then (with some luck and local support)  we may just be able to establish a creditable and sustainable challenge for SL status in 3 - 4 years time.

Let other teams follow the 'old way' and waste their money by trying to buy their way to success.

In the mean while build the stadia we need to support our eventual undisputed claim for SL status.

This MUST be the BOD's 3 year plan, so lets see it stated and then let's see the town support the coach and BOD's  approach for the next three years ....... with no back biting along the way.

If the ground improvements are a cornerstone to all of this, (which they undoubtedly are ) then lets also see the BOD make something happen now ....... and stop all of the ongoing false promises on the matter.

What precisely would you like the board to do ? Just go ahead and build a stadium on land they don't own and have no right to build on ? The problem isn't the BoD, it's the red-tape that goes with the Recre being sited on land owned by a charity.

It's fine everyone saying the board are doing nowt, but what can they do ?

They don't own the ground.

They don't own the land the ground is built on.

They can't do anything with the ground without the permission of the Charity Commission (which can take up to 10 years to be granted by the way).

They can't tap into a lot of funding grants as they can't, under charity laws, have a long enough lease on the ground to qualify.

So, given all that, what exactly do you think the BoD should be doing that they currently aren't ?

Given your line of reasoning, the first thing that needs to be done is stop telling the paying public (and on past occasions the RL too) that we are about to start building, and / or have time scales for finishing, a 1000 seater stand system.

If we have no money to build the stand and no license to plan the building of one at the Rec, then that needs to be made clear to all concerned.

Month after month over the past 3 - 4 we read in the Whitehaven News that one will be build, will be started to be built etc etc. ...... and nothing ever happens, so why keep making empty statements.

The overall condition of the ground is worse than poor at present, and I can't see where any money has been spent on it in the past 10 years or more.

I am not being critical of the BOD, however WRLFC is a business, and as with all businesses, to be successful they need a clear, achievable and ongoing medium term plan, based on a vision that all of the stakeholders (inc supporters here) are aware of and can buy into. The BOD's role is to provide the vision and the plan and make it visible.

On your own admission, (above post), you can't see the vision nor the plan ........ and neither can anyone else who pays through the turnstyle I suggest.

My post was less about the stand and more about the overall vision and associated plan. The stand is however part of both presumably .... so had to be mentioned.

I fully agree with what cbang01 said and it is essential that BOD keep the public well informed about the constructive plans for the club. After all, we, the supporters, are the paying spectators or stakeholders. W deserve to be watching the matches in comfort. A good ground is a must.

dont forget if you dont make it to a GF in the next 3 years then you will not be considered for SL in2012

so there is still a reason to be up there with salford etc etc
