Interesting listening to Geds post match comments. Coxy asked him about possible signings and he said the club were talking to a number of players. Only 1 name mentioned and that was someone called Russell from Gateshead. Plays Scrum half :o Apparently a very talented player. What does this mean for McNally.

Daniel Russell is an excellent scrum half and is definitely someone I would look to bring in. We've got to remember that Manihera wont be playing with us next season (well we presume that) and how many more miles has Leroy got left in the tank?

In my view, we could build a team around Russell and McNally with Rudd at 13. Lets just wait and see what happens tho

I would def take him.  He has led Gatehead well this year and played quite a few firts grade games in th NRL for Penrith
Can play Hooker s/half S off or Lose forward /centre.  I would imagine Gatehead will be keen to retain him though.

Dave Woods is no mug. He realises that Russell is one of his main men so it would take something special to lure him away from Thunder

Apparently we've signed Brendan Rawlins, a Prop, from Keighley Cougars as our overseas player for next year.

Makes sense as Jacko now playing at Hooker and Fats retiring.

What does that mean for Makisi though? Will he be non-quota for next season or is he being released/contract not renewed.

Pure speculation about Dan Russell, will be going full time with Gateshead next year.

Also Rob Jackson has signed for Widnes Vikings, will be made public after 1st September. Rob is going back to being a full-time player now he has finished his studies.

Crikey that is a post and a half. Surely we aren't signing a prop as a quota player? As good as Trindall was for us, I'm of the opinion that you should use your quota spot on a creative playmaker.

I can go with the Dan Russell been speculation, it would be nice to see him at The Recre though.

As regards to Rob Jackson I guess it wouldn't suprise me, but he has had a good season for us so I would like us to keep hold of him.

Out of interest though, where on earth are you getting all of this information from?!

rob stated before the leigh game in the news and star he was enjoying his time at haven, and would love to stay here, ged and barry are sitting down with the players out of contract within the next week to discuss new deals, fats and leroy will both be offerd new deals for 2009!

saia has held talks over a new deal with the club,

russell would be a good signing, never heard of brendan rawlins.

Id be pretty disappointed if our quota place was taken up by a prop.

I cant see any reason why Manihera wont stay with the club for another season. Surely he's worth keeping on, even if just in a coaching capacity.

I would be very impressed if we managed to sign Russell from Gateshead, although we should be able to offer him a more lucrative contract than Thunder if he also worked for the club in a development role.

Was told last night that M.Jackson will be leaving @ the end of the season as he and Stokes dislike each other. The way R. Jackson came over to the crowd after the final hooter and his body language makes it seem likely that he'll be leaving at the end of the season. Shame really as he had his best season in the choc blue and gold this year.

Well if Jacko and Stokes dont get on, he has been putting in some outstanding performances for a coach he doesnt like.

Jacko & Ged did have a 'disagreement' earlier in the season and Marc 'suggested' he was going to leave and sign for the big bucks being thrown around by Barrow. Thought it had all blown over and everything had settled down now. However if Jacko is leaving then the signing of Brendan Rawlins would make even more sense.

Sicey won't be returning, Ged doesn't trust him, so that would leave Matty and Chris Smith as our only specialist hookers for next season.

Tane has already told Ged that he hasn't got another season in him, before they even sat down to discuss next year.

So I reckon our starting half-backs will be Rudd at 6 and McNally at 7.

Fats and Leroy have been offered contracts for 2009. David has already informed Ged and the BoD that he will be retiring at the end of the season. Don't know what the situation is with Leroy though, whether or not he has made up his mind regarding next season.

I'll ask again, where is all of this information coming from? Especially the bit regarding Rawlins?

Leroy, Tane & Fats - from the men themselves, amazing what can happen when you take the time to talk to people.

Jacko - thought it was common knowledge about the bust up/talks with the Barrow chairman

Sicey - obvious

Rob Jackson - from a certain Widnes player whom when taunted at the game responded with the comment that they have signed Rob for next season

Brendan Rawlins - amazing what you can see/find out if you eat your lunch in the right place!
