the article in the ENS tonight seems pointless and very negative . its under the guise of haven hoping for a bumper crowd against cas but goes on to say how the league attendnace dropped by 400 per game on the 2005 season cant see why the club wouldn't provide or want all the info going to press

id be intrested  to know who wrote this as there are one or two glaring omissions that would make the article read a whole different way

in 2005 the CAS league game we had 4560 attenadacne against 3109 for widnes the equivelant game in 2006

leigh at home (big crowd expected) on same day as englands world cup game (quarter final i think) hence leigh brought about 100 if we were lucky you would expect about 500

hull kr brought a very weak team and the 1000 that travelled to the away games with them all season was about 250 at most

that accounts for about 2500 missing in just 3 games

i know its only spin and it depends how you look at it but with this info in print then the article looks a lot different  you could go on to say we had barrow at home in 2005 against york at home in 2006 so a difference there

my point is the club allow negative stuff in to the press with out defending it or trying to make it more positive

while looking at this found the link below which is interesting

York brought a pretty good following last year I thought.

Duff info the News and star have anyway

average crowds in 2005 was 2146, 12 Games Watched by 25,758

2006  2108-12 games watched 25,304

that isnt!! a drop of 400 per match

thats good when you consider the info on the cas v widnes crowds and the leigh and HKR games not getting the expected crowds

done some figures 2005 v 2006  not sure which ones the ENS are quoting but they  are not comparing like for like

2005

all games                               14 games       33660        average 2404    (includes 6154 cas semi final play off)
league/play offs                      11 games       25435        average 2543     (includes 6154 cas semi final play off)
league only                               9 games      19281         average 2142

2006

all games                              15 games       30085          average  2005    (includes 3367 for 2 play off games)
league and play offs               12   games     21445          average  1787    (includes 3367 for 2 play off games)
league only                             9 games        18088          average 2010

so looking at my first post going off league games we have done well ,very well in fact given the widnes leigh hkr games

the rest well it all depends who you play in play off games and 1 game 2005 against cas brought in double the crowd of 2 play off games (batley and rochdale 2006)

then it makes very different reading to the article in the paper

the figure quoted by Justonelittlepoint above are for the only 12 fixed home games (9 league and 3 NRC) so these really are the most acurate as these are what clubs budget on any thing else is a bonus

thats to chris D for the info

Personally  I  thought  crowds  were  well  down  on  the  2006  season  compared  to  2005.  WE  had  some  epic  battles  against  Cas  that  brought  in  some  of  Haven's  biggest  crowds  for  years.

Last  year  saw  a  poor  gate  against  Leigh  due  to  the  England  world  cup  game  and  a  poor  gate  against  HKR  due  to  the  fact  they  brought  over  a  2nd  team  The  only  gate  that  fetched  us  a  decent  crowd  was  Widnes  and  that  was  2000  less  than  Cas  in  the  playoffs.

The Town Game of 4000 is carrying the figures for last season

I  was  meaning  NL1  games  which  I  should  have  said  but  the  Town  game  was  another  excellent  attendance.

At  the  end  of  the  day  lets  hope  everyone  gets  behind  the  side  for  one  big  push  this  season.  If  everyone  makes  the  effort  and  fetches  a  friend  to  all our  home  games  it  will  make  one  hell  of  a  difference............here's hoping :)

From what i saw and have been told the trouble was caused by the Cas fans who quite frankly couldnt take getting beat, the fact that they were all half ****ed when they arrived didnt help either. The Haven fans who were involved in the fighting towards the end were retaliating to Cas fans throwing unopened cans at the home support whilst walking past.

As for the EN&S as with all the local press around here they couldnt write an accurate story if their jobs depended on it!

I  stood  with  the  Cas  fans  in  the  1st  half  and  had  a  good  crack  with  a  few  but  with  them  18-6  up  were  clearly  in  a  good  mood.  Many  though  were  making  good  use  of  the  beer  tent  and  I  was  glad  I  switched  ends  for  the  2nd  half.

Lets  hope  they  do  bring  a  decent  crowd  with  them  as  we  need  the  cash.  I'm  sure  if  their  top  of  the  league  many will  make  the  trek.
