I have today written to the news and star regarding this unfactual article...

Sir,

I wish to register a complaint about an unfactual story that headlined the West Cumbria edition of the News and Star today, Saturday 10th February 2007.

The headline reading.....

"OUTRAGE AT WEBSITE LEG BREAK PHOTO"

May I point out to you an inaccuracy in the article.
"The photograph was posted on a message forum at www.whitehavenrl.co.uk this week and graphically depicts Campbell on the pitch in agony after badly dislocating his ankle against Widnes last Sunday."

This is in fact, not correct.  I have seen the picture that was posted on the forum,  and in no way, shape or form does it show Mr Campbell in "agony".   In fact there are no identifying factors which could link the picture to Mr Campbell.  The shot posted was a picture of a knee downwards towards the ankle and foot and the only identifying factor was that the person was wearing a "Town" sock!

I would like to know why, the Whitehaven RLFC Forum was targetted when there are pictures of Mr Campbells injury posted on other Forums links below..

Maybe more research woud have uncovered these pictures and taken the sting out of the article, which I personally feel is unworthy of front page headlines and the slur on the Whitehaven RLFC Website and Forum.

There is a direct link to the Trust in Widnes website where the photograph originated from and links to the horrific picture in question - surely the Widnes Club should be contacted over this as this is no different to the message post that was posted on the Whitehaven Forum.

See the following link....

http://www.widnesvikings.co.uk/index.php

Check out the advertisments on the on the right hand side, 7th advertisement down TRUST IN WIDNES - that links you where there is a forum where the graphic picture is also posted.

Was this bothered to be checked out?  Has the Widnes club been contacted over this?

Also..

"A GRAPHIC image of an horrific injury to a Workington Town player was posted on Whitehaven Rugby League Club's official website just days before tomorrow's Northern Rail Cup clash at Derwent Park."

I would like to point out that the above statement is also incorrect - the picture was posted on the FORUM section of the website and not on the main website as indicated above.

I await your reply.
