govin had a good game but no one following him as he was looking to off load, if mcnally played last night he would have got a hatrick just following govin

rudd a big improvement in attack the carl rudd of old, his defence was't good simple bounced off 3 or 4 times

skee good game and how did he get that pass out :o

rest played well, dexter is not the answer at center, and our defence needs to learn to slide, 3 or 4 times in the first half they  played to the right, then switched it quick to the left and a 4 on 2 overlap every time

if we can keep our home form like that we should do ok, but i think we may get a few tonkings in away games

thought sicey was mom by a mile changed the game for us

thought dawes did well,

wasnt impressed with mort at all dont think he did anything different from what craig benson carl sice or nick cook could do at full back.

rudds tackling first half was shocking to say the least, ball in hand he is better attacking the line instead of doing inside passes and just shipping it on

was govin injured? why does ged take him off he says he wants him to find form he cant do that from the bench ged!

skee was good tonight he looks good taking the line on manages to slip some nice offloads out

farrer and kyle amor were good tonight as was spencer miller

dexter miller isnt a centre, thought reece fox did well when he went there

It's called settling in. Let's look at it. He was signed on only a few days ago and found himself straight in the squad. Okay, he may have had a few training sessions, but that wasn't go to allow him to go out there and play a blinder so soon after signing. Reading what the others have said he seems to have done okay on his debut. Give him a few more games under his belt and then see if there is any change. Well done lad's.

Anybody else think the sending off was a bit harsh?

Doubt we will get him for the season he is next in line for a spot at leigh one they pick up an injury.

so He wont be able to play next week either so unless the elusive Parata's boat arrives we will be relying on Bensons rock solid defence and rapier like attacking runs.

Please with the win we def needed it still think we are going to be fighting with Batley / Dewsbury to avoid the drop.  It could have gone either way at times last night and the twelve men for such a long part of the game helped us.  That said we won.

thought i would give thornley a mention, he's had a bit of stick on here but last night he ran strong, took some big hits and just carried on and tackled very well as did reece fox,

Thankful for the win, and hope the team can kick on from it. Well done.

Agreed, Sice made some of the difference, but want to acknowledge a second half against 12 men contributed too.

Also got to say we saw the best and very worst of Sice. Tries from incisive (good pun eh) play being the positives, but stepping in and over ruling the captains decision to kick for goal, and run the ball when the score was only 22 - 20 is typical of his mis-placed ego.

He got lucky when we squeezed in for a try in the corner on the last tackle of the set. It could just have easily backfired and finished up with a French break away from their under pressure line at a critical point of the game.

The captain is the coaches rep on the field, except of course when Ged lets Sice away with this typically none professional approach.

Very poor first half, only highlight was rudd finally reclaimin some of his confidence to take the ball on and was rewarded with a half break and a try!

Second half was much better in the most tho they did seem to ease up for a spell once they got their noses infront, no mistake toulouse will be competitive this year especially at home!!

Thought mort went well for his first game, was never out of position

Not happy at all with king geds speech afterwards

I saw that as Reece Fox getting lucky! The lad had two men to his right for a walk-in but he backed himself to score. Thankfully he did, but he wasn't far off from going into touch!

Positives:
A good second half display. The sending off, in my opinion, didn't alter the result. Toulouse were looking tired even before the incident. In the first ten minutes of the second half, Toulouse didn't touch the ball aside from kicking off.
Carl Sice - transformed the game, as so many posters have mentioned. An irritating player to play against, as he performs the unexpected and plays off the cuff.
Carl Rudd - starting to run in to some form.

Negatives:
Silly penalties. Each Toulouse try came from them being piggy backed up the pitch after a penalty was awarded. The flop just before half-term was unforgiveable. Toulouse couldn't have done anything from the field position they were in prior to the penalty.
Right-Hand Defence - Not necessarily Dexter's fault. He is not a centre, yet is being expected to play out of position.
Attendance - Poor. Plenty of excuses will no doubt be offered, but just over 1,100 is simply not good enough.

Still, a win is a win. Lets hope for better, as the season progresses!

Sicey is in superb form. Having 2 good n.9's is a blessing. Its just a pity Ged can't find room for both. If he did it might mean Rudd getting the chop. He's been dissapointing but on Saturday it looked like he was beginning to get his form back. His try oozed class.

Skee and Govin should defo be our halfbacks. Govin was poor against Town and didn't look fit but against Toulouse he looked lively. He always appears to be looking to offload the ball and if we can get players on his shoulder it should reap rewards. Very impressed with Skee so far.

On reflection in was a game of 2 halves. 1st poor. Discipline again let us down and it cost us 3 tries. In attack we had plenty of chances but couldn't make it count.Defence on the right side was a joke. Why does Ged keep playing players out of position ??. Other sides will see this as a weakness and look to exploit it.

2nd half we were a different side. We flung the ball about and looked dangerous. Discipline improved tenfold. If we can play to that sort of level I see no reason for us not making a playoff spot.

Why can we not benefit from penalty's ?
Several times when they gained a penalty they made 40/50 yards advantage from the kick and and usually ended up scoring from this advantage.
We on the other hand are lucky to make 10 yards advantage and on several occasions took a quick tap in our own half ???
Surely Jacko is the man to gain these easy yards if Rudd is strugling with his kicks ?

p.s. one swallow does not make a spring and i think we got out of jail on Saturday  :mess: ??? ???

skee has been kicking for touch and making lots of yards in games, was suprised he wasnt doing it on saturday

your right about one swallow etc

but given how poor the team has been playing of late then any win is a good win, and the fact that the likes of govin and rudd had good games, gives a bit of hope to us all, leigh and fev away to be honest ill settle for 2 bonus points, a lot stronger haven team got tonked at leigh last season, while away at fev we beat them only to let the get revenge at the rec which cancelled out a great away win

hopefully McA and Leroy wont be far off and will make the difference when back in the mix.
think sice is great off the bench as the other teams start to get tired.
