Played well both in attack and defence, scored 2 try's, opposition were very poor, he certainly deserves further games, Ginge was outstanding
he's back down this week.
Let's hope ginge continues to earn his place back in the 1st team squad

Big ginger rolled back the years making yards after yards. The trialist done ok there was also a big guy come on into centre who also tore them to shreds called Mike Darby making yards and breaking line all day. It was a pleasure to watch a haven team playing without monkeys on there backs

Philip didn't score yesterday, the trialist that scored was Mike Darby, he got 2 tries and is from Barrow Island.

Unless the names were wrong on the programme, or Dave Farrell gave them out wrong.

Seems he was going places before his injuries, lets hope he can stay fit, and make a mark in Rugby League.

if some how we could find the money to bring him on board for four moths it would be great ...he TP obviously has talent.  perhaps drop the PARATA phiasco and sign TP  --we need a back that can breack tacklesand TP can do that.

mr phillips has the making of a j.t.  tackle after tackle going in yesterday very good effort and would be one for the first team maybe this season.  would like to see him making a brea kjust to see how he can do.   was mr darby the one who went on for a 60-70 meter sprint to score under the posts?   full team was very good in both defence and attack.  danny barker with some very impressive play and offloads

Its strange how the odd player from the opposite code suddenly turn up on trial. I can remember a young lad from Wales who apparently played union u21 national level. I think he was a hooker and had 1 or 2 reserve games. Must have been about 15yrs ago. Anyone mind his name ????? A good question for all those HAVEN historians ::)

We had a wee welsh lad called Jamie Churcher who played a couple of trials but I remember him being a 6/7?  Went on to play for South Wales - Celtics predecessor.

interesting to read the last paragraph.

Scots Union star Tom Philip joins League

FORMER Scotland star Tom Philip today dropped a bombshell by switching codes to sign a three-month deal with second tier rugby league side Whitehaven.

The 26-year-old centre has been out of rugby since suffering serious back problems following the 2004 Six Nations Championship when he played in all five games.

But Philip did manage four starts for Edinburgh Accies in 2008-09 before succumbing to what is believed to have been hamstring problems.

However, the one-time Edinburgh ace played a trial match for Whitehaven reserves last weekend and did enough in an 82-0 victory to impress coach Ged Stokes who said: "He is very green about the game of league but he looks very good technically and with his international experience in Union should quickly adapt. We're looking forward to working with him."

Sources in Cumbria insist that Philip could make his senior debut after just one reserve outing this weekend when Whitehaven face Blackpool in the Carnegie Challenge Cup. Philip was unavailable for comment but he has spoken of his desire to return to rugby.

However, his switch will come as a blow to Edinburgh Accies who are known to have relished his regular coaching commitment  ;) ;) ;) ;D ;D ;D
