With all of the major players in the league strengthening for the run in are we not looking at signing some reinforcements ahead of the August 8th deadline?

The current squad are like a rudderless ship. We need an experienced leader on the pitch. Spencer Miller is not a Captain.

the collier do you watch this team you are so negative you want a merger no one is any good in your eyes. i think david seeds will be looking at the run in and if he can bring anyone in that we can afford he will :shake: :shake: :shake: :shake:

Why is a merger negative??????

Merging would give us the support of the RFL and the chance to draw on a cachment area large enough to hopefully sustain a SL club. It would also bring better facilities, coaches and the chance for the RL playing youth of the area to aspire to play at the highest level in the game. All things which Town or Haven can never hope to offer alone!

Luddite

tell me of a merger that hasn't ended up with one team swallowing another, they are proven not to work in UK, a merger would kill off pro RL in this county, because after the hype of a new team like in wales where they had 10000+ at their first game, people who have no affinity to the the new team just stop going

Local people dont have an 'affinity' with the club anyway. How many people do you see around Town wearing St Helens, Leeds and Wigan shirtscwho would never dream of going to watch Whitehaven.

People (bar a hardcore of 700) dont want to watch Championship RL anymore - a fact thats been further compounded by the glass ceiling the RFL have errected to prevent teams from being promoted.

Remember Towns first season in Super League? People from all over Cumbria attended Derwent Park to watch them play the 'big clubs' - how many of those would ever dream of attending a Haven/Town game now?


The world of Rugby League has changed and unless we are willing to become progressive and change we will face extinction in the next 10/20 years.


The argument that 'mergers dont work' is rubbish. When have 2 clubs in such a close proimity with so much to gain mutually ever merged? Just because it hasnt worked in the past doesnt mean we shouldnt try - for the sake of everyone.
