huge monies have already been wasted on this venture as nearly half has gone on what exactly?thats why we are down to a one stand ground!! so now we are about to let miners hold us over a barrel for further funds from this dwindling amount i say let the dream of a new stadium go and concentrate on the ground we have a lease for.
Dear Choccy, I think you will find if you ring the RFL that the lease for the recre now lies not with 2010 ltd but with the Charitable arm of the RFL, the club has a lease on nothing.
cran cran im aware of that but just like bradford with their ground we could still carry on at the rec for years to come unless the rfl pull the plug on the deal now
hope its sorted sooner rarther than later becoming laughing stock   :shake: :shake: :shake:

the new stadium/part stadium is supposed to be the corner stone for the POW BECK DEVELOPEMENT which is another of our totaly inept CBC councils brainwaves which invariably cost £ thousands and constantly end in failure.
we as haven rlfc have been set up to be a laughing stock throughout the rugby league world thanks to the public fanfares
and constant possitive statements about the stadium early on with the plans.
only now to find that as usual it looks as if it  is about to end in failure ,with the embarrasment that will cause haven when the world cup matches are switched elsewhere.

thank you CBC (with help from the miners !!)

This could turn out to be a spectacular 'own goal' on the miners part....short sighted doesn't even come close.

Its not over just go and get some local lads caton at egremont is a good prop so is petite at brow also lowery . They will be getting on abit but they will give us a good season. The union season is finished soon so how about trying to get Steven wood, lebbon, Gavin beasly who IMO would make a fantastic rugby league half back. We need to do something as like collier says its going to be lights out if we carry on with this heap of a team.

dear billy b you did not have to be lilly pilch to see it end like this, when building a house in the middle of  a field do you not sort out a access road first of all before anything else, secondly it wants sorted out who is behind this shambolic mess from day 1 and the names of persons  who authorised monies spent up to press and printed in the whitehaven news then we will all have a clearer and full picture.

yet again let down, another missed oportunity, no one involved will take the blame and they all (copeland bc, rl) will walk around
heads held high  saying its nothing to do with me. well it bl...y well should be, this council has wasted so much money on ridiculous
feasibility studies and consultants when they should be employing competant officers in house. with the money available
correctly applied for, this area should have the best of facilities, stadia, roads etc........what have we got...........the worlds nuclear
dustbin on our doorstep and very little else to show for it.................unless you include our quality shopping streets.
name and shame all those involved and when it comes to voting time perhaps the general public will be better informed and ditch the lot of them!!! :grrr:

dear GPO, yes they are actually accountable to a number of bodies however firstly one has to gather evidence to lodge a complaint with the relevant body this could be the local government ombudsman, whoever has taken over the function of the audit office, your M.P. could be called in to ask question, the freedom of information commisioners, the local government minister etc etc but the key to any complaint is evidence of wrongdoing or negligence [incompetance which we have in abundance sadly may be more difficult to pin down]

Why is it always ....when there seems to be a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel....it always seems to cave in again...someone needs to be hauled over the coals for this(pardon the pun)

The whitehaven miners committee is where the fault lies fairly and squarely. The guy from the RL tonight said that as far as they were concerned, all parties had said they were on board, the signing of the agreement was to take place last week, then at the very last minute the miners committe issued their demands, as much as I do not give much creedence to our council this is not of their doing.  This will come back to haunt the miners unless they have a change of heart in the next 48 hrs ( timescale quoted by the RL guy)

Miners club is only open on match days so everyone please DON'T pop in for a pint. Can't believe this is happening at such a late date to our new stadium. EMBARRASSING.

A feller called Steve Ball from the RFL was paid a lot of money as a consultant by WRLFC and CBC  to sort things out with the miners over the past two years. Maybe he was speaking to the wrong people. Hard to believe that this came totally out of left field.

And still begs the question why did they let it get to such a critical time before the lease was signed -- this should have been sorted before plans were ever drawn up. Mismanagement by CBC allowed the miners to be in a position to make such a demand.
