Angered, saddened and frustrated seem appropriate adjectives to use at this time.
On the evidence of today's display, we have to simply face facts that Workington have got a better team than we have. I don't necessarily feel that they have better players, but they are certainly better coached and have an appropriate game plan for the players that they have. At no point, did Workington have to do anything above and beyond playing basic rugby league football.
On the other hand, I seriously question, what game plan, if any, we actually had. If we were to get anything from the game today, we needed to move Workington's larger pack around,. Instead, we did very little other than one man rugby, which more often than not involved our backs taking the ball into contact resulting in little go forward and little momentum.
At half-time this was clearly not working, which was reflected on the scoreboard. Yet, the second half witnessed more of the same. It appeared evident that we certainly did not have a Plan B to revert to. This leads me to wonder what our 'esteemed' coach actually coaches? In some respects, I am glad that we did not pick up a bonus point, as that would have partially hidden the deficiencies in the playing performance and coaching that were demonstrated.
Moreover, our discipline was poor, with too many penalties piggy backing Workington up the field.
Last but not least, Jessie Joe Parker looked like and played exactly like someone who had just stepped off an aeroplane.
