This November sees the release of a rugby league game for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 called Rugby League Live
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rugby_League_LiveWhilst it is still some time until release date, I was fortunate enough to play the game last weekend on the Xbox 360. Sadly, whilst the graphics are of an acceptable standard (much better than the recent Wii game), we found it it near impossible to get to the opposition try line and score. In fact, my mate and I were playing on medium difficulty and never scored one try in the handful of games we played. I only got close the line once and that was due to a lucky 40-20! One of the criticisms of past games is that it has been too easy. Unfortunately this game seems to have gone to the opposite end of the spectrum and leaves you feeling frustrated at the lack of forward progress you make.
My mate is writing a full review (available shortly) and testing it in more depth, but both of our initial thoughts were that whilst we don't expect it to be of the same standard of the bigger sport franchise games we've been spoilt with from EA Sports, we at least expected it to be close from a gameplay perspective, which sadly it isn't. I'm sure there is some fun to be had from the game once the initial frustrations have been overcome, but it may take some time until that stage is reached!
It's also worth noting that unlike the Wii game, this version doesn't come with Championship/Championship 1 clubs. As I said, full review will be posted shortly.
