I don't know if it's just how things are nowadays but I find it hard to agree with this instant sucess philosophy of the current generation. What's wrong with supporting your home town club who struggle from one hardship to the next? Sport by nature cannot be full of sucessful teams. We are a small town club who had a purple patch a decade ago, to be honest we punched above our weight for a few seasons and riding that wave was great. Why do people expect (or some demand) that we should be up there constantly. Before the season started I thought that if we stay up it will be an achievement, lets be realistic,  we have little infrastructure and even less money than a lot of other teams that we are trying to compete with. I've even stopped posting on the predictions threads as if we were playing Souths some people would expect us to win and come up with some outrageous theories as to why we would. It's time to be honest with ourselves and carry on supporting through 'thick and thin'. Can't remember how many times in the past I've left the ground saying I'm never going back to watch that *****, but somehow always end up going back, we've had plenty of worse squads than the current one so people should be grateful for what we do have and support them for what we really are, a small town team.

if you have 17 lads giving 100%, 99% of people will be happy.  That hasn't happened anywhere near enough over the last few years.

Newcastle are rubbish but still get 50 odd thousand every home game and they haven't won a major trophy for over 40 years

while I agree with the points made by reccre may I suggest that most fans do not begrudge paying to watch a loosing team provided players give 100% effort but for those of us who are on basic pensions or low wages paying to see non performers is not an option

Well said Derek, not everyone is lucky enough to have gotten into Sellafield before their educational clampdown.
Not everyone can afford to go every week, regardless of how well or poor the team is performing.

Can you elaborate on the educational clampdown comment please Puppetmaster?
If it's a girl they're naming her Sigourney after an actress, if it's a boy the 're naming him Rodney after Dave

Once over you had a chance of getting in there on experience, now it appears you need to be a virtual genius to wash somebody's socks!!!
