Whitehaven RLFC are thrilled to announce the signing of utility player Oscar Thomas on a month's trial. The 27-year-old Scottish international is equally at home across a number of positions including full back, half back or hooker.
London born Thomas made his Super league debut back in 2014 for London Broncos playing at full back in a 58-16 home defeat to St Helens. He went on to make six appearances as the Broncos were relegated from the topflight.
He stayed with Broncos for their 2015 Championship campaign. Thomas has also represented London Skolars, Bradford Bulls, Sheffield Eagles, Swinton Lions and Rochdale Hornets amassing a total of 111 appearances
Thomas has 11 caps from the Scottish national team including at the 2017 Rugby League World Cup in which he scored a try versus New Zealand. Thomas has scored 22 points for the national side consisting of 3 tries and 4 goals.
Head coach Gary Charlton said: "I'm really pleased to have Oscar on board he has experience and has played at a high level, just in training we have noticed he talks a lot which is a good trait to have playing in the positions he plays. Hopefully he will be a great asset to the team and to be able to get Oscar up here for the next month is great for the club.
“We would like to thank Oscar’s agent Dave Peet for sending Oscar our way for the next month."
