Whitehaven Rugby League are delighted to announce the signing of Dalton Desmond Walker on a 2 year deal which will see the Australian link up with Jonty Gorley’s squad in the next few weeks until the end of the 2025 season.

No stranger to the British game Desmond-Walker has made 58 appearances for West Wales Raiders and Keighley Cougars being a part of the Keighley side that gained promotion to the Championship going unbeaten in their 2022 League 1 campaign. Ahead of the 2023 season DDW had signed for the Bradford Bulls but decided to return home to his native Australia and has been playing in France in recent months."

Speaking about signing Desmond Walker Haven head coach Jonty Gorley said “ I'm delighted to welcome Dalton to the club, he’s a player we’ve looked at for a while. He's a big thing at 6ft 4 and 104kg and gives us that size that I’ve been looking for. Dalton has previous experience of the UK, playing for West Wales and he was part of the Keighley squad that won league 1 and had a stint with Bradford. He's an aggressive fella, I remember him being sent off for West Wales against 'haven at the rec. I'm looking forward to Dalton getting here, he should be here in about 3 weeks, waiting of his visa. He’s been keeping himself fit playing in France, so should be up to speed when he gets here.”

DDW becomes the 23rd member of the 2023 squad ahead of our first pre-season encounter vs Widnes Vikings in Jack Owens Testimonial on Sunday 14th January at DCBL Stadium, Widnes followed by the annual Ike Southward Memorial Trophy fixture vs Workington Town on Sunday 21st January at Fibrus Community Stadium, Workington.

Reading the reviews this guy seems to be exactly what we need big and aggressive,  a bigger version of Jacko. Has he got a brother who also plays prop?
Well done to all involved  in getting  this guy . How many Aussies have we got signed up to  play for the Havrn roos ?

Admitted punching a woman and throwing her to the floor after a finals win . And was subject to a alcohol abstinence programme.  Is it what we need.
Quick Google search will prove

He comes here hopefully to prove a point. What happened in the past has nothing to do with HAVEN. Just as long as he’s learned a lesson then move on.  We need size and he certainly has that.

Of course no one on here has ever made a drunken error of judgement. The lad has had his punishment move on.
If it's a girl they're naming her Sigourney after an actress, if it's a boy the 're naming him Rodney after Dave

At the end of the day, he along with other people deserves a second chance, and it seems he has been punished for his actions, and he isn't the first and won't be the last rugby player to make a mistake that they regret.

Was Wondering the same thing myself, can't  be a fitness thing as he was reportedly playing in France  before signing for us  so beggars the question why he's  not playing, especially  against the jam who need put back in their box.
