I don't think it is good business or that many clubs do take cup competitions in to your budgeting as they are so unpredictable.     If you get a cup run then that is a bonus but shouldn't be included in pre-season budgets.

How is the club meant to reduce the debt when only 500 fans turn up?  It doesn't matter how an accountant anyone is or how good a business man they are if people dont turn up and put any money into the club its bound to get into financial trouble.
