'hatred or intolerance of another race or other races.'

I'll go with racist - no confusion here.

Xenophobia covers it equally as well though - ''hatred or distrust of anything or anyone that originates from or lives past Distington''

Garty, there is no such race as 'American'. Americans can be black, white, oriental, asian etc. Therefore the comments made by some were not racist but xenophobic. HTH.

blimey, my argument has just fallen to bits due to your rapier debating skills and I now feel ashamed about my comments (you might want to look up sarcasm in the dictionary)

This is fantastic news. Reading it on here is one thing but listening to Dick confirming it in great detail was quite overwhelming.  Congratulations and well done to all involved in saving the club.  :tip:

Let's now hope that all those new posters who were quick to have their penny's worth (and before any one jumps, yes they are entitled to it) get down the club for every home game and we can all start doing our bit by coming through the turnstiles. That's the first place the club need our support. Once we can do that then every thing else will start falling into place.  Can't wait to heat the sound of HAVEN HAVEN, HAVEN again.

HERE'S TO THE RESSURECTION OF WHITEHAVEN RUGBY LEAGUE 2010. RISE HAVEN, RISE.  :D

For goodness sakes!  Will you lot grow up!

We have something to celebrate and all you lot want to do is hurl petty insults and get one over on each other.

Please stick to the original topic please.

Further posts of this nature will be deleted and the offenders given a ban - it gets more and more ridiculous each day with the same old petty squabbling!

Pack it in!

My Girl, Tommygun and Garty you want your heads banged together. This is a rugby forum stand aside will you and make way for a sensible discussion about rugby, there is something serious to discuss. If you were my kids you would have been sent to your room long ago. And by the way Garty I think you were right with your 1st post I understood what you were saying anyway.

Well Thank God for That!!!!!!!

So we now have a new club which is debt free, with a chairman who is clearly passionate about the club and team, and hopefully a new BOD, coach and players to come in the next few weeks. Let us all now work together to build our new club and get us back into the Championship.

On another point a MASSIVE thank you to Mr and Mrs Raaz for spending so much time, effort and money to save our beloved Haven. I think that they will be the first to admit that they don't know everything and that they have made mistakes, but lets put all of that behind us now (it is history, most of it painful, but still history) and move forward into a new bright future.

 :)

Debt free? surely they are paying a % to previous creditors?

As I understand the money paid by Dick Raaz to buy the club will be divided between the creditors by the administrators. If I'm wrong could someone please correct me as I'm not a financial genius!

But what about the businesses and persons owed money by the "old" club? Will they be celebrating? The taxman wasn't the only one owed money.

Businesses go bust all the time, with creditors getting little to nothing. It's part of business life unfortunately, but you can't (usually), get blood out of a stone............or money out of an empty purse

Whitehaven RLFC are just another business unfortunately.

Plenty of businesses gone bust, even in Workington................less do in Whitehaven ............................................because we already have a pretty rubbish shopping precinct.

Fair point marra. However, Workington Town are hardly 'paragons of virtue' in this department with their financial track record - it is common knowledge re: their close shaves in the past.

I do think though that the new BOD should come to some kind of arrangement with creditors to try and pay back some of the  monies owed to local businesses, perhaps deferring it to a time when the Club is back on its feet. This gesture of good will would stand the club in good stead in the future, would it not?
