very good posts jammy but are the right people listening, i still think the main stand should be on the st bees side blocking out the through valley wind and the recre side acting as a wind shelter.
dear GPO the right people are listening sadly they do not care to call any sort of a halt because they are too far down the road not to allow themselves to be made fools of and by the time everyone realises we have a piece of useless junk the politicians will have moved on or can simply pass the blame onto the overpaid "CONSULTANTS" who might say sorry and go back to counting their cash.
The reason they have had to put the stand where it is, is because to put any sort of stand on the Mirehouse side they would have to move the all weather pitch and to move the all weather pitch and get it put back on the site they will have to remove a large [and expensive] chunk of the Marchon embankment the cost to get 7,500 people on the two empty side will be enourmous.
If we have a driving rain and a fair wind coming up the valley say an hour or two before kick off is there anything that will keep the rain off the seats???

Absolutely correctamondo GPO it will be bloody freezing 9 times out of ten.

Where the current stand is means that its the coldest place on the ground. It never gets any sun and even on a nice spring day you need to wrap up big time.

Bloody Hell we agree!!!!

At the end of the day we all know that the Recre is a S*** hole, it is NOT fit for purpose and an embarrassment. Yes I accept that the new plans are not great, but the ground will be new, with new facilities and the ability to develop. At the moment Haven as a club does not need a big ground, we need a nice little new ground. Also given the current world economic climate we should not be ungrateful if somebody wants to build us a new stadium. That money could easily be spent elsewhere, then we would be stuck with the Recre for ever. Lets just make the best of a bad job and take the new stadium and see how things go.

Typical of people around here, happy with 2nd class facilities rather than fight for what we deserve

Enoch why swap one not fit for purpose stadium for another???

For 5 million the rec could have 2 new shiny stands running down each side of the ground. 2000 seats down one and 5000 standing down the other with all the associated ammenities a modern stand has.

Also yes the economic climate is bad at the min but this has been goin on long before 2008

Gordon Bennett!  Note for your diary - choccy and I agree on something.

It's gonna happen, we ain't got a say - make the best of what we have and make sure it's packed to the hilt and we make the rafters rock!

It's all very positive now - new stadium, new coach, new up and coming players (quite lucrative at that) a new season ahead!  How much better can it get?

We keep mentioning doing the Recre up. But the money that is earmarked for the project can't be used on the Recre. So its new ground or nothing!

theres nothing id like better than to stay at the rec and spend a few millions really bringing it up to a very good standard but that aint our choice and the money raised was never just for our use (shame) so we have to go with this no matter how small and who knows from little acorns grow!!

Was a groundshare at the rec ever considered? How much of the MILLION pound spent so far on fees spent investigating that?? I am at pains to see how a 10000 stadium can be developed on the county ground with the astro in the way. Moving the astro turf and relaying it is going to add around another half amillion to the cost. The whole thing is a joke.

Agree gpao the layout is also ridiculous, who in their right mind buids 2 stands in the fashion that's planned, especially given the conditions we have.

Would love to see the tender documents to see just what's in the spec
